Quality and durability of Chinese rugs

Chinese rugs are durable and well suited for everyday use. Traditionally hand-knotted from wool, they offer a soft yet resilient pile that holds up well over time. With proper care, a quality Chinese rug can last for decades.

How to choose a Chinese rug for your home

• Choose the right size: Select a rug that fits your furniture layout. In living rooms, place it under the front legs of seating, while bedrooms and dining areas often benefit from a larger rug. Our collection includes a range of sizes, from smaller accents to large Chinese rugs, ideal for anchoring spacious rooms.
• Enhance your interior with colour: Chinese rugs often feature soft blues, creams, beiges, and muted reds. Light tones open up smaller rooms, while deeper shades add warmth to larger spaces.
• Select a design that suits your style: Chinese rugs range from delicate florals to more open patterns. Subtle designs create a calm base, while more defined motifs can become a focal point.

Decorating with Chinese rugs in every room

Chinese rugs are easy to style and can add warmth and character to almost any room in your home. Here are some top placement options.

Living room

• Place a Chinese rug under the front legs of the sofa and armchairs to define the seating area.
• Choose a rug size that frames the furniture and creates a cohesive layout.
• Let the rug act as an elegant focal point while adding warmth and structure.

Bedroom

• Position the rug under the bed, allowing it to extend evenly on both sides.
• Create a soft, comfortable surface underfoot for a more inviting atmosphere.
• Use calm tones for your Chinese rug to enhance a restful and sophisticated setting.

Dining room

• Select a Chinese rug large enough to fit both the table and chairs, even when pulled out.
• Ensure the rug frames the dining area for a balanced, polished look.
• Create a more inviting dining setting with warmth and elegance underfoot.

Hallway

• Opt for a runner-style Chinese rug to suit narrower spaces.
• Use it to introduce pattern and character in a welcoming way.
• Brighten the area while maintaining a light and elegant feel.

How to care for your Chinese rug

• Hoover regularly with low suction to remove dust and prevent dirt from settling into the pile.
• Rotate the rug occasionally to ensure even wear and fading.
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to help preserve the colours.
• Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth to prevent stains.
• Clean a Chinese wool rug gently, avoiding harsh chemicals or excessive water that can damage wool fibres.
• Use a rug underlay to improve stability and reduce friction.
• Keep away from excess moisture, as wool can absorb water and lose shape.
