80 x 400 cm rugs for long hallways

80 x 400 rugs are ideal for a full-length hallway, a landing that runs past several doors, or a corridor linking two parts of an open-plan home. The 80 cm width still fits comfortably within most hallways while still leaving space on either side. Available in a range of colours, patterns, designs and styles, explore our range of 80 x 400 rugs below to find the perfect fit for your space.

Choosing an 80 x 400 rug

An 80 x 400 rug is ideal for spaces where a shorter runner would leave a gap: a long straight hallway from the front door to the stairs, a landing that runs past several bedroom doors, a corridor joining two living spaces, or a galley kitchen where one continuous strip works better than two separate mats.

Beyond covering the distance, 80 x 400 rugs take the wear where feet cross it most, protects hard flooring from scuffs along the whole run, softens the sound of footsteps, and stops a long stretch of bare floor looking unfinished. One rug this size is also simpler to keep straight and clean than several shorter ones laid end to end.

Frequently asked questions

It suits longer stretches of floor that a standard hallway runner won’t fully cover: an extended entrance, a landing running past several bedroom doors, or a corridor joining two living spaces. If your hallway is shorter, our 80 x 300 cm rugs may be a better fit.

In most hallways an 80 cm runner leaves a neat, even border on each side rather than touching both walls. Measure the full length of your space, including any turns or doorways it needs to clear, before ordering.

Hoover regularly on a setting suited to the pile, avoiding a beater bar on flatweave or fringed hand-knotted runners. Blot spills straightaway rather than rubbing them in, and rotate the runner occasionally so wear from foot traffic spreads evenly along its length.
