Ohara - A Gentle Fade of Forest Light

Bring the calming transition of nature indoors with a beautifully graded green palette that flows from deep forest tones to a soft, light moss.
The Ohara flatwoven rug brings a calm, grounding presence to your home with its beautifully balanced colour transition. Designed to create a cosy and inviting atmosphere, this piece helps to soften acoustics and add a layer of gentle warmth underfoot, making it a comforting addition to any living space.
Crafted from wool, this rug offers the natural durability and resilience that only genuine wool can provide. The inherent strength of the fibres ensures that the rug maintains its beauty over time, even in busier areas of the home, while remaining soft and pleasant to walk on.
This versatile rug is fully compatible with underfloor heating, ensuring your floors stay warm and comfortable throughout the colder seasons. The classic fringe detailing at the ends adds a touch of traditional charm that frames the modern gradient design beautifully.
Handmade in India, each piece represents a connection to a long-standing heritage of weaving. By choosing this hand-woven rug, you are bringing a unique, crafted character into your home that blends functional performance with a thoughtful aesthetic.

Design

The design of the Ohara rug is defined by a smooth, horizontal gradient that transitions seamlessly from a deep, rich green at one end to a pale, airy green at the other. This ombre effect creates a sense of movement and depth, while the delicate cream fringes at both ends provide a clean, structured finish to the flatweave design.
With its soothing palette of green tones, this rug brings a fresh, organic feel that perfectly complements Scandinavian and modern interiors. The natural colour progression evokes the quiet beauty of a forest canopy, establishing a serene and balanced mood in your bedroom, dining area, or study.
Each Ohara rug is hand woven by skilled artisans, using traditional flatweaving techniques that have been passed down through generations. This classic method involves interlacing the threads entirely by hand on a traditional loom, resulting in a durable, low-profile structure with a smooth, reversible surface.
The creation of a hand-woven piece requires immense patience, precision, and physical coordination. Every change in the green gradient demands careful attention from the weaver to ensure the colour transition flows naturally and evenly across the entire length of the rug.
Crafting a rug of this scale by hand is a time-intensive process that can take several weeks to complete. This dedicated human effort ensures that no two pieces are exactly alike, giving your rug a distinct character and a level of craftsmanship that machine-made alternatives cannot replicate.

80% Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

20% Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.

Care & Fair

Maintenance

  • To prevent shading and uneven wear, frequently rotate your rug.
  • Use a conventional hoover instead of a robotic cleaner to prevent any damage to the rug.
  • If you discover a loose thread on your rug, use scissors to gently cut it off. Avoid pulling the thread to prevent damage.
  • Avoid hoovering directly over the fringes, as the suction and brushes can catch the threads and cause damage.

Installation

  • Fold marks may occur during transport. This is not a manufacturing defect and is easy to remedy. Simply turn your rug over, roll it tightly, and leave it for a few hours. Finally, lay out your rug and wait a few days until your rug lays flat against the floor.
  • As you unpack your new rug, you may notice a slight smell, which is due to the rug being tightly packed during transport. This is normal and will go away after a few days.
  • Make sure your floor is completely dry before placing the rug.
  • We recommend using an anti-slip mat with this rug, as color migration may occur onto light-colored floors.
  • Please be aware that trapped dirt, dust, or dampness under a rug may cause marks or scratches on sensitive floors.

Cleaning instructions

Do this
  • Spot clean only.
  • Address spills promptly to minimize staining. Blot the affected area gently with a damp, undyed cloth—never rub, as this may embed the stain further into the fibers. Protect the floor beneath the rug by ensuring it's properly covered during the cleaning process.
  • We recommend that you use Rugvista Stain Remover for this type of rug.
  • For hard-to-remove stains, we recommend you contact a professional rug cleaner.
  • To clean the fringes, use a soft brush to get the debris out.
Avoid this
  • Do not wash
  • Do not bleach.
  • Do not tumble dry.
  • Do not iron.
  • Do not dry clean.
