Ziegler FineHand KnottedRug

Beige / Black246 x 345 cm

The Ziegler tradition finds its roots in the late 19th century when European design sensibilities met the masterful weaving techniques of the Middle East. Originally commissioned by the Ziegler & Co firm, these rugs were designed to appeal to Western tastes by featuring more open fields and softer, more muted colour palettes than many traditional, densely patterned styles.

Today, this tradition continues to thrive in Pakistan, where artisans have mastered the art of creating these sophisticated pieces. The construction often utilises a durable foundation, allowing for a pile that is both soft to the touch and remarkably resilient against the wear of daily life.

The signature design language of a Ziegler rug is defined by its grand, oversized floral and vine motifs. These patterns often flow across the field with a sense of organic movement, framed by elegant, wide borders that ground the design. While traditional versions often used softer earth tones, this piece features a bold black field that offers a contemporary twist on a classic aesthetic.

Collectors value Ziegler rugs for their ability to bridge the gap between historical craft and modern interior needs. Owning one is an investment in a storied tradition, representing a beautiful synthesis of cultural heritage and refined design that adds a distinct layer of sophistication to any home.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and patience. Each knot is placed individually by hand, resulting in a durable and resilient construction that reflects the dedication of the artisan who created it.

With a weight of 34.8 kg spread across its generous dimensions, this rug demonstrates a high density of material. This significant weight is a direct indicator of the quality and effort invested in its creation, ensuring a robust structure that will hold its shape and beauty over time.

The time-intensive nature of hand-knotting allows for the precise, elegant floral patterns seen across the surface. By choosing this piece, you are supporting a time-honoured craft tradition where every detail is the result of focused human effort, rather than mass-produced manufacturing.
