Vintage HeritageHand KnottedRug

Dark yellow / Dark grey295 x 393 cm

This rug originates from the deep-rooted weaving traditions of the Middle East, a region renowned for its mastery of textile arts. For centuries, these rugs have been more than just floor coverings; they are cultural artefacts that reflect the history, geography, and artistic identity of the communities that create them.

The vintage nature of this piece means it has lived a full life, developing a unique patina and softness that can only be achieved through time. Such rugs are valued by collectors and enthusiasts for their ability to bridge the gap between traditional techniques and contemporary home design, offering a depth of colour and texture that modern manufacturing simply cannot match.

The design features a classic medallion motif, a hallmark of Middle Eastern rug design that symbolises unity and focus. Surrounding this central element are intricate floral patterns, often derived from ancient garden designs and architectural motifs. These elements are not merely decorative but are part of a sophisticated visual language that has evolved over hundreds of years.

Collecting a piece like this is an investment in heritage and skill. It represents a connection to the artisans of the past and a commitment to preserving the art of hand-knotting. Each thread carries the legacy of the region, making this rug a meaningful addition to any home that values authenticity, history, and the human touch.

This rug is entirely handmade, reflecting a long-standing tradition of artisan skill passed down through generations. The intricate process of hand-knotting results in a robust and durable construction that is far superior to mass-produced alternatives. Each knot represents a deliberate act of precision, contributing to a finished piece that is built to endure for years to come.

With a weight of 29 kg, this rug features a substantial foundation that speaks to the quality of materials and the density of its construction. This significant weight is a testament to the labour-intensive effort required to create such a large, durable textile, ensuring the rug lies flat and maintains its structural integrity over time.

The time and human effort invested in this hand-knotted piece are evident in the consistency of the weave and the clarity of the patterns. By choosing this rug, you are supporting a craft tradition that prioritises quality and longevity, ensuring your investment is one that retains its beauty and character for a lifetime.
