Black / Brown198 x 297 cm

Tabriz rugs hail from one of the oldest weaving centres in the Middle East, located in the historic city of Tabriz. This region has long been a vital hub on the Silk Road, acting as a crossroads for diverse artistic influences that have shaped its unique rug-making heritage for centuries.

The term Tabriz refers to a wide range of designs, but the common thread is the exceptional level of technical skill involved in their production. These rugs are renowned for their refined construction, which allows for a high degree of detail in the patterns, ensuring that the finished product is both beautiful and structurally sound.

Signature design elements of the Tabriz tradition often include a prominent central medallion surrounded by lush, flowing floral motifs and intricate vine scrolls. The use of a formal border is also a hallmark of these rugs, helping to frame the central field and provide a balanced, sophisticated appearance that has remained popular for generations.

Collecting a Tabriz rug is a way of preserving a piece of cultural history. These rugs are valued not only for their aesthetic beauty but for the centuries of tradition they represent. When you acquire a rug from this region, you are bringing home a legacy of skill and heritage that is deeply rooted in the artistic soul of the Middle East.

This rug is crafted using the traditional hand-knotted technique, a process that requires immense skill and dedication. By individually tying each knot onto a cotton foundation, artisans create a dense and resilient pile that is far more durable than machine-made alternatives.

With a total weight of 24.1 kg, this rug demonstrates the substantial amount of high-quality wool used in its construction. This weight is a clear indicator of the density and quality of the piece, reflecting the significant human effort and time invested by the weaver to achieve such a robust and well-constructed final product.

The precision required in this hand-knotted process ensures that the intricate motifs remain sharp and clear across the entire surface. This level of craftsmanship is what elevates the rug from a simple accessory to a premium piece, ensuring that it stands up to daily life while retaining its structural integrity.
