Tabriz Antique - A Piece of Home Worth Keeping

Discover a truly one-of-a-kind antique Tabriz rug from Persia, featuring rich historical motifs and 100% wool construction.

This antique Tabriz rug brings a genuine piece of Persian heritage straight into your home, carrying history within its woven fibres.

Every step upon it reveals the natural warmth and comforting underfoot feel that only authentic craftsmanship can provide.

Crafted entirely from 100% wool, the pile offers a soft yet resilient surface that helps insulate rooms and absorb sound, creating a calmer living environment.

The generous 10 mm thickness adds a substantial, cushioned feel that makes any room feel more welcoming.

With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, the intricate pattern displays exceptional clarity and detail.

This high concentration of knots creates a dense, luxurious pile that stands up to daily wear while keeping its refined appearance for years to come.

As a truly one-of-a-kind piece, no two rugs are identical, and this exact design will never be made again.

Owning it means bringing a unique story and genuine individuality into your living space.

Tabriz rugs originate from the historic city of Tabriz in Persia, a legendary hub along ancient trade routes where artistry and commerce met for centuries.

Weaving traditions here evolved through generations, blending influences from neighbouring regions to create a distinct school of design known for its remarkable refinement.

The designation 50 Raj refers to a traditional unit of measurement along the loom width, indicating a high knot-setting standard that defines fine craftsmanship.

This technical approach results in a tighter weave, finer pattern definition, and a more durable pile compared to coarser makes.

The visual language of Tabriz rugs often centres on elaborate floral motifs, central medallions, and garden themes framed by detailed multi-layered borders.

In this antique piece, traditional patterns are expressed through a harmonious balance of motifs that draw the eye across the field.

Collecting antique Tabriz rugs connects owners to a long lineage of textile artistry and cultural heritage.

Owning a piece of this calibre represents a commitment to enduring quality and traditional skill that survives across generations.

This rug is entirely handmade through traditional hand-knotted techniques, reflecting months of careful human labour and deep craft expertise.

Skilled artisans hand-tie each knot individually onto the foundation, securing the pile with precision and care.

With a weight of 8.1 kg distributed across its 194 x 139 cm dimensions, the construction is dense and sturdy.

This substantial weight signals the heavy investment of material and time required to build a lasting floor covering.

The 250,000 knots per m2 density demands exceptional patience and precision from the weaver.

Achieving this level of detail requires an immense time commitment, resulting in a robust structure and a sharp, well-defined pattern that highlights traditional artistry.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
