Because this is a one-of-a-kind piece, you are acquiring a unique work of art that will never be replicated, ensuring your home decor remains as individual as your personal style.

Beyond its visual impact, this rug offers excellent sound absorption and natural thermal insulation, making it a functional addition to any room. Its robust construction ensures that it remains a reliable and beautiful part of your home for years to come, aging gracefully with proper care.

Owning this piece means embracing the heritage of Middle Eastern weaving traditions. The interplay of colours and the intentional placement of geometric patterns demonstrate a level of artistry that elevates the atmosphere of your home, turning a simple floor into a canvas of cultural history.

Shiraz rugs originate from the Fars province in the Middle East, a region with a storied history of nomadic and semi-nomadic weaving traditions. These rugs are traditionally crafted by various tribes who move seasonally, allowing their designs to be influenced by the diverse landscapes and cultural exchanges encountered along their journeys.

The term 'hand-woven' in this context refers to a tradition that has been passed down through generations, utilising vertical looms that are easily transported by nomadic groups. This method results in a slightly less uniform appearance compared to city-made rugs, which is highly prized by collectors for its authentic, human touch and distinct character.

Signature design elements of Shiraz rugs often include geometric medallions, stylised floral motifs, and repeating patterns that reflect the natural environment of the Fars region. The use of deep red and black tones is traditional, often accented with ivory or earthy brown to create a high-contrast aesthetic that feels both grounding and bold.

These rugs are deeply valued by collectors for their cultural weight and the preservation of ancient tribal techniques. By owning a Shiraz, you are not merely purchasing a floor covering, but a piece of living history that represents the skill, lifestyle, and artistic expression of the communities that have cultivated this craft for centuries.

This rug is meticulously hand-woven by skilled artisans, a process that requires patience and deep technical knowledge. With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, this piece contains approximately 750,000 individual knots, each placed with precision to ensure the sharpness of the patterns and the longevity of the pile.

The construction of this rug involves significant human effort, with a total weight of 4.7 kg distributed across its 4.71 m2 surface area. This density speaks to the quality of the wool used and the time-intensive nature of the weaving process, where every single knot contributes to the structural integrity and durability of the final product.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
