Shiraz - A Vibrant Expression of Tribal Artistry

This one-of-a-kind Shiraz rug brings authentic tribal charm to your home with its rich, hand-woven motifs and warm, earthy tones. A truly unique piece that captures the spirit of Middle Eastern craftsmanship.

This Shiraz rug offers a deeply tactile experience, featuring a dense Wool pile that provides natural warmth and comfort underfoot. Its substantial construction makes it an ideal choice for living areas where a cosy, grounded atmosphere is desired, while also helping to absorb sound in open spaces.

The rich, saturated colours are drawn from traditional palettes, creating a focal point that feels both vibrant and anchored. Because it is a one-of-a-kind creation, the specific arrangement of its tribal motifs ensures that your rug is entirely unique, serving as a personal statement piece that cannot be replicated.

With a knot density of 160,000 knots per m2, the rug showcases clear, defined patterns and a resilient pile that is built to maintain its beauty for years. This density provides a soft, luxurious feel that highlights the high-quality Wool, ensuring that the rug remains a durable and cherished part of your home interior.

Originating from the Middle East, this rug carries a heritage of artistry that translates into a versatile floor covering for modern homes. Every detail, from the expressive medallions to the intricate border, reflects a tradition of storytelling through design, offering you a piece with genuine cultural character.

Shiraz rugs originate from the Fars province in the Middle East, a region with a long-standing tradition of nomadic weaving. These rugs are traditionally created by tribal groups who move with their flocks, allowing them to draw inspiration from the landscapes, flora, and fauna they encounter. This nomadic heritage gives these rugs their spontaneous, creative energy.

The term hand-woven refers to the specific way these rugs are constructed on portable horizontal looms. This method allows weavers to integrate complex geometric patterns and stylized motifs directly from memory rather than following a rigid paper blueprint. This process results in a rug that feels organic and deeply human, with subtle variations that mark it as a true product of the weaver's skill.

Design elements in a Shiraz rug are distinctively tribal, often featuring geometric medallions, stylized birds, and repeating floral motifs. The borders are typically decorated with repeating patterns that frame the central field. These motifs are not merely decorative but serve as a visual language, often representing the weaver's environment and tribal identity.

Owning a piece from this tradition is an opportunity to connect with a centuries-old craft. Collectors value these rugs for their authenticity and the skill required to produce them without the aid of modern technology. By bringing one into your home, you are preserving a narrative of resilience and artistry that has been passed down through generations of weavers.

Each Shiraz rug is carefully hand-woven by skilled artisans, a process that requires immense focus and patience. With a size of 278 x 165 cm and a density of 160,000 knots per m2, this rug contains approximately 734,000 individual knots. Achieving this level of precision is a labour-intensive endeavour that typically takes a skilled weaver several months to complete.

The 4.6 kg weight of this rug is a testament to the generous use of quality Wool and the tightness of the weave. This weight contributes to the rug's stability, ensuring it lies flat and maintains its shape over time. Every knot is placed by hand, creating a robust structure that demonstrates the value of slow, deliberate production over mass-manufactured alternatives.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
