This striking Shiraz rug serves as a foundational piece for any room, offering a tactile depth that only hand-knotted Wool can provide. Its thick, resilient pile creates a comfortable surface underfoot, providing both warmth and sound absorption that enhances the overall atmosphere of your living space.

The visual language of this piece is defined by its bold, geometric tribal patterns. The deep, saturated tones are balanced by lighter accents, creating a captivating contrast that draws the eye and anchors your interior. Each detail within the design reflects a long-standing tradition of artistic expression, making it a functional piece of art for your floor.

Because this rug is truly one of a kind, you are acquiring a piece that is entirely unique. No two rugs from this region are ever identical, as each one captures the specific creative choices of its maker. Owning this rug means possessing a singular creation that will never be replicated, ensuring your home remains distinct and personal.

Designed for lasting comfort, the durable construction ensures the rug maintains its integrity even in high-traffic areas of the home. Its dense, high-quality Wool pile feels substantial and plush, offering a welcoming texture that holds its beauty through years of daily use.

Shiraz rugs originate from the Fars province in the Middle East, a region with an incredibly deep history of nomadic and village weaving. These rugs are traditionally crafted by various tribal groups, including the Qashqai and Khamseh confederacies, who have moved through the rugged mountains and valleys of the region for centuries.

The term Shiraz is often used as a collective name for the rugs brought to the city of Shiraz to be traded in the bustling local bazaars. Because they are often woven by nomadic weavers on portable horizontal looms, these rugs capture a sense of spontaneity and freedom, often featuring variations in the pattern that reflect the environment or the weaver's mood at the time.

Signature design elements for these rugs include geometric medallions, stylized floral motifs, and repeating tribal symbols. The borders are typically complex and framed with multiple guard stripes. While red and blue are classic, traditional colours, you will often see earthy, warm tones that reflect the natural dyes used in the region, providing a grounded, authentic feel to the final product.

Collecting a Shiraz rug is an investment in cultural heritage. These pieces are highly valued not only for their durability but for the way they preserve the stories and symbols of nomadic life. Owning one is a way to connect with a centuries-old tradition of skill, where every pattern is a testament to the weaver's ingenuity and the enduring beauty of tribal design.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and dedication. The artisan carefully ties each individual knot by hand, a method that ensures the pattern remains sharp and the structure stays incredibly robust for decades to come.

The dense construction is evidenced by its weight of 4.2 kg, a testament to the generous amount of high-quality Wool used to create the pile. This significant weight is a direct result of the labour-intensive hand-knotting process, which packs the material tightly to create a rug that is both heavy and exceptionally stable.

Creating a piece of this size and complexity involves weeks of focused, manual effort. By avoiding machine-made shortcuts, the rug gains a character and longevity that mass-produced items simply cannot match. Every inch of this surface reflects a human touch and a commitment to preserving traditional craft standards.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
