This genuine Shiraz rug offers a rich, tactile experience, providing a soft and comfortable foundation that adds immediate warmth to any room. Its high-quality wool pile feels substantial underfoot, while its natural fibres offer excellent sound absorption for a calmer, more inviting home environment.

The design features bold geometric motifs and a distinctively earthy palette, showcasing the iconic visual language of its origin. As a truly one-of-a-kind piece, this rug reflects a singular moment of creation, ensuring that the specific arrangement of patterns and tones you see is unique to this item alone.

With a density that speaks to its long-lasting durability, this rug is built to maintain its beauty through years of daily life. The careful construction ensures that the wool remains resilient and easy to care for, making it as practical as it is visually striking.

Owning this rug means welcoming a piece of Middle Eastern craft tradition into your home. Because no two pieces are identical, you are acquiring an original work that will never be replicated, offering a sense of depth and authenticity that mass-produced items simply cannot match.

Shiraz rugs originate from the Fars province in the Middle East, a region with a deep-rooted history of nomadic and semi-nomadic weaving traditions. These rugs are traditionally crafted by tribal groups who have passed down their design heritage through generations, reflecting the landscapes and cultural symbols of their ancestral homes.

The term Shiraz is often used as a collective name for rugs woven by various tribes in this area, including the Qashqai and Khamseh. The craft is defined by a reliance on local, high-quality wool, which is often dyed using natural pigments to create the deep, earthy tones that give these pieces their characteristic warmth and visual depth.

Signature design elements often include geometric medallions, tribal motifs, and stylized representations of local flora and fauna. These patterns are not merely decorative but serve as a visual narrative of the weaver's heritage. The borders often feature repeating geometric sequences that frame the central field, providing a sense of balance and structure.

Collecting a rug from this tradition is an investment in cultural preservation. These pieces are highly valued for their raw, unrefined beauty and the human history woven into every thread. By choosing a Shiraz rug, you are bringing home a piece of art that carries the soul of its origin and the skill of generations of master weavers.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that requires immense skill and patience. By looping individual strands of wool onto a sturdy foundation, artisans build the structure of the rug knot by knot, a method that creates a dense and robust pile capable of withstanding years of wear.

Measuring 10.3 kg, this rug demonstrates the significant amount of high-quality material woven into its construction. The weight is a testament to the density of the wool and the time-honoured effort invested in its creation, ensuring a level of thickness and quality that is rare in modern floor coverings.

The precision required to execute the traditional geometric patterns is only possible through this rigorous hand-knotted technique. Each knot serves as a building block for the overall design, resulting in a finished piece that is structurally sound and crafted to remain a cherished part of your home for generations.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
