The tradition of rug weaving in the Middle East is deeply rooted in the history of the Central Asian steppes. For generations, nomadic and settled communities have utilised local Wool to create functional works of art that serve as both floor coverings and cultural expressions. This particular piece draws from the rich heritage of the region, where design motifs are often passed down through families as a visual language.

The technical quality of this rug is evidenced by its construction, which prioritises durability through a dense knotting process. In the Middle Eastern tradition, the use of high-quality Wool is paramount, as the fibres are known for their natural lustre and resilience. These materials are processed and spun to create a pile that is not only soft but also capable of maintaining its vibrant colours and structural integrity over decades of use.

Visually, this rug is characterised by its bold use of stripes and geometric motifs. The inclusion of ornate borders, often inspired by ancient tribal patterns, provides a formal frame for the more relaxed, linear design of the field. The interplay between the structured stripes and the complex geometric medallions reflects a sophisticated blend of styles that is common in fine Middle Eastern weaving, showcasing a balance between order and artistic flair.

Collecting a piece from this tradition is an act of preserving a historic craft. These rugs are highly valued not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for the skill and patience required to produce them. By bringing this rug into your home, you are supporting a legacy of craftsmanship that has survived changing times, ensuring that these traditional skills continue to thrive for future generations.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused labour to its creation. Using a traditional foundation of Cotton, the Wool pile is tied knot by knot to ensure maximum durability and a refined texture that mass-produced alternatives simply cannot match.

The precision required to achieve 160,000 knots per m2 is a testament to the artisan's expertise. For a rug of this size, this level of density results in a significantly heavy and substantial construction, weighing 9.9 kg. This weight is a direct indicator of the quality of materials and the sheer amount of human effort invested in every square centimetre of the piece.

The time and dedication poured into this rug are reflected in its flawless finish and consistent pile height of 8 mm. By avoiding industrial machinery, the weavers ensure that each knot contributes to the overall strength and longevity of the rug, resulting in an heirloom-quality product that stands as a tribute to manual craftsmanship.
