Senneh rugs originate from the Sanandaj region in the Middle Eastern highlands, a city historically renowned for its sophisticated weaving culture. These rugs are highly regarded for their artistic integrity, often reflecting the unique aesthetic sensibilities of the local Kurdish weavers who have preserved these techniques through generations.

The technical precision of a Senneh rug is what sets it apart. The weaving method focuses on creating a very fine, tight foundation, which allows for a high level of detail in the design. This density is not just for visual appeal, but also contributes to the longevity and structural stability of the rug.

Visually, these rugs are often defined by their intricate geometric and floral motifs. A classic hallmark of the style is the Herati pattern, or fish design, which creates a rhythmic, flowing field. The border work is typically formal and well-proportioned, framing the central field to create a balanced, harmonious composition.

Collectors value these rugs for their ability to blend tradition with functional art. Owning a piece from this tradition is an investment in cultural heritage, representing a level of skill and history that continues to be celebrated by interior designers and rug enthusiasts worldwide.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a process that requires significant patience and a steady hand. By individual placement of each knot, the artisan creates a structure that is both resilient and refined, ensuring the pattern remains sharp and the pile stays dense over the years.

With a total weight of 2.7 kg, this piece demonstrates a substantial use of quality Wool. This density is the result of focused manual labour, where every square centimetre is carefully built up to ensure the rug lays flat and maintains its shape even with regular use.

The dedication required to produce such a piece is reflected in its final form. Every element of the construction serves to enhance the durability of the rug, making it a reliable and long-lasting addition to your home that honours the traditional techniques of its origin.
