Senneh rugs are renowned for their delicate, sophisticated aesthetic and originate from the Sanandaj region in the Middle Eastern highlands. Historically, these rugs were celebrated for their refined construction and artistic floral motifs, often serving as a hallmark of the region's cultural heritage. The tradition of weaving in this area has evolved over centuries, blending local creative expressions with broader regional influences to produce highly distinctive pieces.

The term Senneh refers to a specific style of weaving that emphasises precision and detail. These rugs are typically characterised by a very fine, tight construction that allows for intricate patterns to be rendered with clarity. This technical expertise results in a rug that is not only visually stunning but also remarkably durable, making it a favourite among collectors who value both form and function in their textiles.

Signature design elements for this tradition often include a central medallion surrounded by dense, artistic floral patterns or repeating motifs across the field. The borders are usually meticulously crafted to frame the central design, often featuring harmonious colour palettes that balance the complexity of the motifs. This specific piece showcases a beautiful interaction of colours and patterns that is deeply rooted in the traditional design language of the region.

Owning a piece from this tradition is an investment in cultural history and artisanal skill. These rugs are valued for their ability to bring a sense of grace and permanence to a home, standing as a testament to the weaver's dedication. Collectors and enthusiasts alike cherish these rugs for their unique ability to bridge the gap between historic craft and modern living, ensuring that the legacy of the region lives on in every home they inhabit.

This rug is carefully hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate countless hours to ensuring every strand is perfectly placed. With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, the creation of this piece is a labour-intensive process that demands immense precision. This level of density is essential for achieving the fine, sharp details in the pattern and ensuring a long-lasting, resilient pile that stands up to the test of time.

The construction reflects a commitment to quality that mass-produced alternatives simply cannot match. By utilising a sturdy cotton foundation for stability and a dense wool pile for comfort, the artisans have created a rug that balances structural integrity with a soft, luxurious touch. The weight of 13.1 kg across its 196 x 144 cm size is clear evidence of the generous amount of material used, signalling a robust build that is designed to endure.

The time and human effort invested in each square metre of this rug ensure that you are acquiring a piece of genuine value. Every knot contributes to the overall strength and pattern clarity, resulting in a finished product that is as durable as it is beautiful. This is a testament to the dedication of the weavers, whose work preserves a craft tradition that prioritises quality and longevity above all else.
