Sarouk FineHand KnottedRug

Red / Dark blue298 x 405 cm

The Sarough rug tradition finds its roots in the small village of Sarough in the central Middle East. Historically, these rugs became world-famous in the early 20th century for their exceptional durability and the high quality of the local Wool, which was prized for its soft, lustrous finish.

The term 'Fine' in this context refers to the elevated standard of weaving and the complexity of the design. A higher level of precision in the knotting process allows for sharper, more intricate floral patterns that define the Sarough look, creating a visual depth that draws the eye and anchors the room.

Visually, these rugs are celebrated for their elaborate floral compositions and central medallions. The design language typically features flowing vines, delicate palmettes, and balanced, symmetrical arrangements. The rich blue and red palette seen here is a classic signature of the style, designed to create a sense of harmony and poise.

Collecting a piece from this tradition is an investment in cultural heritage. These rugs are highly valued for their ability to bridge the gap between traditional artistry and modern living, offering a connection to a long-standing craft that prioritises patience, skill, and the pursuit of lasting beauty.

Every inch of this rug is the result of patient, dedicated hand-knotting. By meticulously tying each individual strand of Wool onto the foundation, our artisans ensure a level of structural integrity and pattern clarity that simply cannot be achieved through machine production.

The process is incredibly labour-intensive, often requiring many months of consistent work from skilled weavers. The density of the construction is evident in the finished piece, providing a firm, resilient surface that stands up to daily use while retaining its intended shape and fine detail.

With a weight of 36.2 kg across its generous 405 x 298 cm dimensions, this rug demonstrates the sheer volume of premium material and effort invested in its creation. This density is the mark of a well-made, substantial textile that is built to last for generations.
