Brown / Black284 x 370 cm

Sarough rugs originate from the Arak region in the Middle East, a historically significant area renowned for its contribution to traditional rug-making. These rugs gained widespread fame in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, becoming highly sought after for their durability and the quality of the Wool used in their construction.

The term 'Sarough' refers to a specific style of weaving that emphasises a sturdy foundation and a dense, high-quality pile. These rugs are often recognised for their use of high-grade, resilient Wool, which is carefully processed to ensure long-lasting lustre and softness. This technical excellence is why they have remained a popular choice for collectors and homeowners alike.

Visually, these rugs are characterised by their formal and elegant designs. They frequently feature a central medallion surrounded by dense, flowing floral vines and intricate palmettes. The borders are typically well-defined, framing the central field with complementary floral motifs that demonstrate the artistic heritage of the region.

Owning a piece from this tradition is about more than just floor decor, it is about connecting with a lineage of skilled artistry. These rugs are valued for their ability to balance complex, traditional patterns with a sense of harmony, making them a testament to the skill and patience of the weavers who have kept this craft alive for generations.

This rug is a product of traditional hand-knotted techniques, where every single knot is tied individually by skilled artisans. This level of craftsmanship requires hundreds of hours of focused effort, resulting in a robust structure that mass-produced alternatives simply cannot match.

With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, this rug offers remarkable precision in its intricate floral patterns. This high knot density provides a denser, more luxurious pile that enhances both the visual clarity of the design and the long-term durability of the rug, ensuring it remains a staple in your home for generations.

The weight of 31.5 kg speaks to the substantial amount of quality Wool used in its construction. This weight is a direct indicator of the density and material integrity of the piece, reflecting the significant human effort and time invested in creating such a sturdy, high-quality floor covering.
