Sarouk Antique - A Treasured Piece with Generations of Character

Discover a genuine antique Sarouk rug, bringing rich Persian history and unmatched character to your home as a true one-of-a-kind piece.
Bring a true piece of history into your living space with this antique Sarouk rug, cherished for its remarkable age and enduring presence.
Measuring 318 by 203 cm, it offers a generous presence that anchors a living room or study with a grounded, welcoming feel.
Crafted entirely from 100% wool, the dense 12 mm pile provides a deeply comforting, tactile experience underfoot while naturally softening sound and adding warmth to your floor.
With a fine count of 250,000 knots per square metre, the intricate design reveals exceptional clarity and a luxurious density that supports long-term durability and lasting beauty.
Because this is a genuine one-of-a-kind creation, no other home will ever feature this exact rug, making it a truly personal addition to your interior.
Originating from the village of Sarouk in the Markazi province of Persia, this rug belongs to a celebrated weaving tradition renowned for producing some of the most resilient and sought-after floor coverings in the region.
The dense construction relies on tightly packed knots and sturdy natural foundations, a traditional technique that locks the wool fibres securely in place and accounts for the legendary longevity of antique Sarouk pieces.
Visually, these rugs are celebrated for their sophisticated floral compositions, often featuring stylised botanical motifs and central medallions rendered in rich tones of red and blue against contrasting fields.
Owning an antique Sarouk means acquiring a tangible piece of textile heritage, valued by collectors and homeowners alike for the extraordinary skill and cultural history woven into every single square metre.
This rug is entirely handmade through traditional hand-knotted techniques, reflecting a remarkable investment of human time and skill by experienced artisans.
With a density of 250,000 knots per square metre spanning the entire 318 by 203 cm surface, the creation process demands months of precise work to tie hundreds of thousands of individual knots by hand.
Weighing 19.4 kg, the substantial construction demonstrates the dense packing of materials and foundational quality required to ensure the rug maintains its structure and resilience over decades of daily use.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
