The 12 mm pile offers a wonderfully tactile and cushioning feel underfoot, bringing warmth and inviting comfort to living rooms or studies.

Its dense construction also naturally absorbs sound, helping to create a calmer and quieter atmosphere in your living space.

Crafted entirely from 100% wool, this rug provides a naturally resilient and soft surface that stands up to daily life while remaining gentle to the touch.

The natural fibres offer cosy insulation against cold floors, making your favourite room feel instantly more welcoming.

As a completely one-of-a-kind piece, no two rugs are identical, and this exact design will never be made again.

Owning it means bringing a completely unique expression of traditional artistry into your home, ensuring a truly personal touch.

Sarouk rugs take their name from a small village in the Markazi region of Persia, which grew into one of the most celebrated weaving centres of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Master weavers in this region gained renown for producing exceptionally durable and finely crafted floor coverings that soon found favour in homes across the globe.

The traditional hand-knotting technique relies on securing individual strands of wool to a supportive foundation, creating a thick and resilient pile.

This meticulous method ensures that the rug can withstand generations of daily use while retaining its rich texture and appearance.

Visually, traditional Sarouk designs often feature intricate floral sprays, blossoming vines, and central medallion motifs rendered in deep tones.

This particular antique piece showcases those classic botanical elements beautifully, framed by detailed borders that draw the eye across the field.

Collecting vintage and antique pieces from this region allows you to connect with centuries of textile tradition.

Owning such a rug is an appreciation of human skill and cultural heritage, offering a tangible link to the artisans who preserved these time-honoured techniques.

This rug is entirely handmade through traditional hand-knotted techniques, representing hundreds of hours of dedicated human skill.

Artisans tie each knot individually by hand, resulting in a dense and durable foundation built to last for generations.

With a knot density of 250,000 knots per m2, approximately 616,000 individual knots make up this 187 x 132 cm rug.

This high level of precision allows for remarkable pattern clarity and a tightly packed pile that maintains its structure over years of use.

Weighing 7.4 kg, the substantial weight reflects the generous amount of natural wool and tight knotting invested in its construction.

This dense build ensures the rug lies flat and stable on your floor while providing a remarkably rich and substantial feel.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
