The Sarough rug tradition finds its roots in the village of Sarouk in the central part of the Middle East. Historically, these rugs became world-renowned for their exceptional durability and the high quality of the wool used in their construction. Over time, the style evolved, and today, the most exquisite examples are crafted by artisans in India who continue to honour these traditional methods.

The term 'Sarough' refers to a specific approach to design and knotting that emphasises a sturdy, long-lasting foundation. The use of a dense pile and robust construction techniques ensures that these rugs can withstand decades of use while retaining their structural integrity and aesthetic charm. This dedication to quality is why they have remained a favourite among collectors and homeowners alike.

Visually, Sarough rugs are celebrated for their characteristic floral motifs. Often featuring sweeping vines, stylised blossoms, and grand central medallions, the design language is both formal and inviting. This specific piece features a traditional layout that balances intricate detail with a harmonious colour palette, creating a sense of balance that is typical of the finest examples of the craft.

Owning a piece from this tradition is a way to connect with a long heritage of textile art. These rugs are highly valued for their ability to bridge the gap between historical artistry and modern living. By choosing this piece, you are supporting a legacy of craft and bringing a timeless, culturally significant element into your living environment.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who have honed their craft over generations. The process is incredibly labour-intensive, requiring months of focused effort to achieve the precise, intricate patterns that define this traditional style. Every individual knot is placed by hand, creating a robust and resilient structure that mass-produced alternatives simply cannot match.

With a density of 360,000 knots per m2, this rug displays an exceptional level of detail and sharpness in its floral designs. This high knot count is a testament to the artisan's precision, resulting in a pile that is not only dense and luxurious but also incredibly durable. The sheer amount of wool and time invested ensures a quality that will endure for decades.

The substantial weight of 35.9 kg further highlights the quality of materials and the density of the hand-knotted foundation. This weight is a direct result of the dense construction, providing a stable, heavy-duty rug that lays beautifully on your floor. It is a tangible expression of the care and effort poured into its creation, making it a lasting investment for your home.
