Crafted from Wool, the pile offers a dense and comforting feel. The weight of the rug ensures it stays firmly in place, providing excellent insulation and a natural sound-dampening quality that makes any room feel instantly more private and serene.

The intricate patterns woven throughout the rug provide a sense of depth and character that only a hand-knotted piece can offer. Because each rug is a unique creation, the subtle variations in pattern and colour ensure that you are bringing home a piece of art that exists nowhere else in the world.

Designed to withstand the demands of daily life, this rug combines beauty with resilience. Whether placed in a formal sitting area or a quiet study, its presence brings an understated elegance that elevates the overall atmosphere of your home for years to come.

The Sarough tradition traces its roots back to the village of Sarough in the Middle East, a region long celebrated for its exceptional weaving culture. While the historical Sarough rugs of the late 19th and early 20th centuries were renowned for their high-quality wool and durable foundations, the 'American' designation refers to a specific evolution in the early 20th century.

During this era, weavers began creating rugs specifically tailored to Western tastes, often featuring more open floral designs and subtle colour palettes that complemented the interior styles of the time. These rugs maintained the high standards of their predecessors while adapting to a broader international audience, ensuring their legacy as highly sought-after collector pieces.

The design language of this rug is characterised by its balanced composition and intricate floral motifs. The field often features scrolling vines and stylised blossoms that reflect a sophisticated artistic tradition. The use of a distinct border creates a framing effect, grounding the complex internal patterns and providing a sense of orderly beauty that is a hallmark of this style.

Owning a piece from this tradition is an opportunity to connect with a long-standing craft heritage. These rugs are valued not just for their visual appeal but for the skill and patience required to produce them. By choosing this rug, you are acquiring a piece of cultural history that represents a bridge between traditional Middle Eastern craftsmanship and modern interior design.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to each individual piece. With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, the construction process requires immense precision to ensure the sharpness of the design and the long-term durability of the pile.

The total knot count for a rug of this size reflects the significant human investment required to bring it to life. This high density is a hallmark of quality, creating a robust structure that holds its shape and detail, ensuring that the investment in craft translates into lasting beauty for your home.

The substantial weight of 21.7 kg is a direct result of the high-quality materials and the density of the hand-knotted pile. This careful balance of weight and construction ensures a rug that feels substantial and durable, standing as a testament to the time and skill poured into its creation.
