As a one-of-a-kind creation, this rug represents a singular artistic expression. You will never find another piece exactly like it, as the subtle variations in the weaving process ensure that every rug remains a unique treasure. By choosing this piece, you are acquiring a work of art that is as individual as your home, destined to become a cherished focal point.

The rug features a sophisticated floral motif set against a rich, dark field, framed by a meticulously detailed border. This traditional design language is a hallmark of the region, offering a balanced and elegant aesthetic that complements both formal and modern interiors. Its visual complexity invites closer inspection, revealing layers of colour and pattern that reward the eye over time.

Beyond its beauty, this rug is built for longevity. The high-quality materials and precise construction result in a durable pile that retains its shape and lustre even with regular use. It serves as a grounding element for your room, providing both visual warmth and a sense of history that elevates your interior design.

Ghom rugs originate from the holy city of Qum in the Middle East, a centre of religious and cultural significance that has become world-renowned for its fine silk weaving. While rug-making in the region has a long history, the production of silk rugs in Qum is a more contemporary evolution that began in the early 20th century. These weavers quickly gained a reputation for their ability to adapt classical designs into exceptionally fine, high-density silk creations.

The term 'Ghom' refers to this specific geographic tradition, which is characterised by the use of high-quality silk for both the pile and the foundation. This material choice is what allows for the incredible knot density and the signature lustrous finish found in these pieces. Because silk is an exceptionally fine fibre, it enables weavers to achieve a level of intricate detail that would be impossible with coarser materials.

Visually, these rugs are celebrated for their highly detailed, often floral or medallion-based compositions. The designs frequently draw inspiration from the rich decorative arts of the Middle East, incorporating flowing arabesques, delicate vines, and complex central medallions. The use of a dark field to offset the vibrant, multi-coloured motifs is a classic technique designed to make the colours pop, creating a striking contrast that emphasises the precision of the work.

Owning a piece from this tradition is a testament to the appreciation of human skill and historical continuity. These rugs are highly sought after by collectors who value the marriage of traditional design with the sheer technical difficulty of working with pure silk. Each piece serves as a link to a craft tradition that prioritises patience and precision, ensuring that the legacy of the artisan's hand remains present in your home.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months to its creation. The process involves tying thousands of individual knots to build the design, a labour-intensive method that ensures the pattern remains sharp and the pile stays firm for years. Every stage of the work is guided by generations of experience, resulting in a finished piece that is both precise and structurally sound.

With a density of 640,000 knots per m2, this rug demonstrates an extraordinary level of detail and craftsmanship. This high knot count is the secret behind the rug's fine, clear patterns and its remarkably dense, resilient pile. The higher the knot density, the more durable and detailed the rug becomes, representing a significant investment of human skill where each knot is placed with intent to create a surface that is as durable as it is luxurious.

The foundation and pile are crafted from silk, a material prized for its strength and refined finish. By using silk throughout the construction, the artisans ensure a consistent tension and a uniform texture across the entire piece. This commitment to quality materials and traditional hand-knotted techniques guarantees that the rug is not only a beautiful decorative item but a reliable investment in artistry.

Zijde
