Its construction ensures excellent sound absorption and natural insulation, making it a functional choice for creating a cosy atmosphere in smaller living areas or entryways.

The rug is crafted from high-quality Wool, which provides a durable and long-lasting surface that retains its beauty even with daily use. You will notice the rich, vibrant tones and the intricate floral motifs that define its unique character, turning your floor into a sophisticated focal point.

As a truly one-of-a-kind piece, this rug carries its own distinct personality. Because each piece is created individually, no two rugs are ever identical, ensuring that the one you welcome into your home is a unique artifact that will never be replicated.

Originating from the storied traditions of the Middle East, this piece represents a deep connection to regional craft history. Owning this rug means possessing a work of art that balances traditional aesthetics with the practical needs of a modern, lived-in home.

Sarouk rugs originate from the village of the same name in the Arak region of the Middle East. Historically, this area has been a central hub for rug production, gaining international fame in the early 20th century for its ability to create floor coverings that perfectly suited the tastes of Western homes with their dense pile and elaborate floral designs.

Technical excellence is at the heart of the Sarouk tradition. These rugs are known for their firm, durable foundations and the high-quality Wool that is used for the pile. The term 'Kork' often refers to a particularly fine, soft Wool taken from the neck of the sheep, which allows for finer detail and a more luminous, velvet-like finish compared to standard Wool.

Visually, these rugs are celebrated for their intricate floral patterns, often featuring a central medallion surrounded by a lush field of scrolling vines and blossoms. The colour palette typically emphasises deep reds, blues, and creams, creating a balanced and harmonious look that draws the eye and anchors a room.

For collectors and enthusiasts, a Sarouk represents more than just a floor covering; it is a piece of cultural heritage. They are highly valued for their ability to balance durability with decorative grace, making them some of the most sought-after examples of Middle Eastern craftsmanship in the world.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that requires immense focus and patience from skilled artisans. Each individual knot is tied by hand, creating a dense and resilient pile that is far more durable than mass-produced alternatives.

Given its size of 89 x 70 cm and weight of 1.9 kg, this piece demonstrates a substantial construction that reflects the high density of material used. The weight is a testament to the quality of the Wool and the tight, precise knotting that gives the rug its structured, premium feel.

The time and human effort required to knot this rug are significant, as every square centimetre is carefully built to ensure pattern clarity and structural integrity. This dedication to craft is what makes the finished piece so robust and ensures it remains a cherished part of your home for years to come.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.

Silk

Silk is an exclusive natural fibre that provides a soft and shiny feeling to rugs. The material can also be used to enhance details in wool rugs and in some, silk can make up the entire pile and sometimes even the warp. Elegant rugs with rich details can only be made with silk because other fibres are too thick for this purpose. Silk is a durable and hard-wearing fibre that lasts a long time and becomes more beautiful over time. Due to its sensitivity to liquids, it is advisable to refrain from positioning the rug in areas where there is a high likelihood of moisture or potential spills.
