Patchwork runner - A Unique Character for Your Home

Handcrafted in Turkey, this vintage one-of-a-kind Patchwork runner brings warm orange and dark-green tones to your hallway or living space.

Dating back 20 to 50 years, this vintage Turkish Patchwork runner brings a distinct sense of history and character into your home. Made from repurposed vintage rug sections, each panel displays faded floral motifs and traditional patterns that tell their own story. Because this is a true one-of-a-kind piece, no other rug in the world shares this exact layout or balance of shade.

Crafted with a pure wool pile, the rug offers a soft yet firm feel underfoot while maintaining natural warmth. Its low 8 mm profile makes it practical for narrow spaces, fitting easily under doorway clearances while providing a comfortable walking surface through busy corridors.

The rich palette of warm orange and deep dark-green creates a grounded, welcoming focal point. The individual hand-stitched segments combine flat and textured panels, creating an interesting visual depth that anchors your space with subtle tone variations.

Originating from Turkey, this hand-knotted piece blends historic craft with contemporary floor decor. Owning this runner means bringing home a piece of textile heritage that will never be replicated.

The art of the Turkish Patchwork rug originated as a creative way to preserve and reimagine vintage hand-knotted carpets. Stripped of their original dye, re-dyed in vibrant hues, and hand-stitched into fresh geometric compositions, these rugs bridge decades of weaving history with contemporary interior preferences.

Traditional hand-knitting techniques in Turkey rely on the symmetrical double knot, often called the Giordes knot. This construction method locks the wool pile around the warp threads, producing an exceptionally durable foundation that allows vintage carpets to be repurposed decades after their original creation.

The visual signature of a Patchwork rug lies in its unexpected juxtaposition of traditional patterns. Fragmented medallions, floral motifs, and decorative borders intersect across stitched panels, turning classic oriental designs into abstract, modern artistic statements.

Vintage Turkish rugs are celebrated globally for their durable wool quality and artistic heritage. By combining authentic mid-century carpet segments into a single composition, each Patchwork piece carries genuine collector value and historic weight.

This runner is constructed using sections cut from older hand-knotted wool rugs, carefully washed, recoloured, and hand-stitched together by skilled artisans in Turkey. The process gives new life to vintage textiles while honoring traditional weaving methods.

Weighing 5.5 kg for its 206 x 76 cm size, the dense wool construction reflects the substantial amount of natural material woven into the original rug panels. The careful hand-assembly ensures every seam is reinforced for long-lasting daily use.

Transforming historic carpets into a modern patchwork composition requires exceptional patience and eye for balance. Every panel is chosen and aligned by hand, resulting in a robust, characterful rug that stands up to daily living.
