PatchworkHand KnottedRug

Dark grey / Grey158 x 232 cm

The art of the patchwork rug is a modern evolution of traditional weaving practices, born from a desire to celebrate and repurpose the heritage of Middle Eastern textile crafts. By taking vintage or existing rug components and reassembling them into new, contemporary compositions, artisans give a second life to high-quality materials while creating something entirely new.

Patchwork rugs rely on the quality of the individual fragments, which are often sourced from older, hand-knotted carpets. This method requires a deep understanding of textile structure, as the artisans must balance the weight, pile height, and colour consistency of each section to ensure the final rug lies flat and wears evenly over time.

Visually, these rugs are defined by their grid-like geometry, which highlights the subtle differences in dye lots and wear patterns inherent in the original materials. This creates a rich, monochromatic or multi-tonal effect that feels both structured and organic, making it a versatile choice for modern interiors that value history and texture.

Owning a patchwork rug is a commitment to sustainable beauty and individual expression. It represents a bridge between the past and the present, where the skill of the original weavers is honoured through a fresh, architectural design. It is a prized choice for collectors who seek a piece that tells a story of transformation and enduring quality.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans in Turkey, a region renowned for its deep-rooted weaving traditions. The process involves thousands of individual knots, resulting in a dense and durable construction that is built to last for generations.

With a total weight of 12.8 kg, this rug reflects the significant amount of premium material and labour invested in its creation. Each knot is placed with precision, ensuring that the final piece possesses a consistent, high-quality structure that resists wear even in high-traffic areas.

The construction reflects a commitment to traditional craft, where every detail is considered to ensure both aesthetic beauty and structural integrity. By choosing a hand-knotted piece, you are supporting a legacy of craftsmanship that transforms raw materials into a long-lasting, reliable floor covering.
