Usak rugs have a storied history rooted in the town of Usak in western Turkey, which was once a major centre for rug production during the peak of the Ottoman Empire. These rugs became famous for their large-scale floral patterns and harmonious colour palettes that were highly sought after by European royalty and the elite.

Over generations, the techniques and design language of these classic rugs have travelled across borders, finding a vibrant new home in India. Today, Indian artisans continue this legacy by blending traditional, large-scale motifs with contemporary colour sensibilities, ensuring the spirit of the original Usak style remains relevant and alive.

The design often features stylised floral elements, such as palmettes and scrolling vines, which are arranged in a balanced, flowing composition. This specific rug captures that tradition, utilising a gentle, muted palette that allows the intricate details of the floral motifs to emerge subtly, rather than overwhelming the space.

Owning a rug from this tradition connects you to a long lineage of craft. These pieces are valued not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for the cultural heritage they represent. By bringing this piece into your home, you are continuing a story of artistry that has been refined and passed down through centuries.

Each rug is carefully hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time and focus to every stage of the process. This traditional method ensures that the construction is robust, resulting in a durable piece designed to withstand years of use while maintaining its form.

The quality of this rug is evidenced by its construction, which utilises a substantial amount of material to achieve a dense and supportive pile. With a weight of 9.9 kg, the rug offers a solid feel that speaks to the patience and effort invested in its creation, ensuring it lies flat and maintains its premium quality over time.
