Usak rugs have a storied past, originally hailing from the historic city of Uşak in western Turkey. Once renowned for producing the most prized carpets for European courts and grand cathedrals during the 16th and 17th centuries, the Usak style has evolved over centuries as its influence spread across the globe.

Today, the tradition of weaving these rugs has been beautifully adopted by artisans in India. This evolution has allowed the classic Usak aesthetic to reach new audiences, blending historical design sensibilities with contemporary weaving practices. The result is a rug that feels deeply rooted in tradition while remaining perfectly suited for modern living.

The signature design elements of an Usak rug are often defined by their large-scale, open floral patterns and medallion motifs. These designs typically utilise a soft, harmonious colour palette, avoiding harsh contrasts in favour of gentle transitions. The focus is on creating a balanced, elegant visual flow that complements rather than dominates a room.

Collecting an Usak-style rug is about more than just floor coverage. It is about embracing a lineage of craftsmanship that values detail and artistic expression. These rugs are cherished for their ability to bring a sense of history and quiet sophistication to a space, making them a lasting investment for those who appreciate the intersection of heritage and home comfort.

This runner is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans in India. This traditional craft involves tying individual knots onto a foundation, a labour-intensive process that ensures the pile is securely locked into place for maximum longevity.

The construction of this rug is characterised by its significant weight of 4.5 kg, which speaks to the density of the Wool used. This heavy, substantial feel is a direct result of the hours of dedicated effort required to create a rug of this size, ensuring a product that is both robust and beautifully finished.
