Najafabad rugs originate from the city of Najafabad, located in the Isfahan province of the Middle East. This region has long been a hub for high-quality textile production, where weaving is not merely a trade but a deeply embedded cultural practice passed down through generations of families.

The construction of these rugs relies on a traditional foundation that prioritises durability and detail. The use of robust materials allows for a dense pile that supports intricate designs, ensuring that the finished product is as practical as it is beautiful. This commitment to structural quality is what distinguishes regional rugs from more common, mass-produced varieties.

Visually, Najafabad rugs are celebrated for their classic floral motifs, often featuring a central medallion surrounded by a sea of delicate, repeating patterns. The colour palettes are typically deep and harmonious, drawing on traditional dyes that produce a sophisticated, aged look. The inclusion of a formal, decorative border frames the central design, providing a sense of balance and order.

Collecting a rug from this tradition is an investment in human skill and regional heritage. These pieces are valued for their ability to tell a story through pattern and colour, serving as a bridge between historical weaving techniques and modern home aesthetics. To own one is to preserve a piece of a centuries-old craft tradition.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires immense focus and patience. By individually tying each knot, the weaver ensures a level of structural integrity and pattern precision that simply cannot be achieved by machines.

The substantial weight of 42.4 kg is a direct result of the high-quality materials and the dense, sturdy construction required for a piece of this size. This significant amount of material ensures the rug will remain flat and stable, providing a long-lasting foundation for your home.

Given the intricate floral patterns and the large dimensions of 408 x 297 cm, the creation of this rug represents hundreds of hours of dedicated labour. Every inch reflects a commitment to traditional craft that results in a durable, high-density pile capable of enduring for generations.
