Brown / Black227 x 358 cm

The Najafabad rug originates from the city of Najafabad, located in the central region of the Middle East, a historic area renowned for its long-standing tradition of rug weaving. These rugs are highly regarded for their robust construction and their ability to incorporate sophisticated, classical designs that reflect the cultural depth of their origin.

Najafabad rugs are celebrated for their distinctive medallion patterns, which are often surrounded by sweeping floral arabesques and vines. This design tradition focuses on symmetry and balance, creating a sense of order and calm that has made these rugs popular among collectors and homeowners alike for generations.

Technically, these rugs are known for their sturdy foundation and high-quality materials, which allow the weavers to execute complex, curvilinear patterns with great clarity. The precision required to maintain these curves across a large surface is a hallmark of the Najafabad style, showcasing the high level of skill passed down through local weaving families.

Beyond their visual appeal, these rugs are valued for their durability and cultural significance. Owning a Najafabad rug is an investment in a living tradition, representing a bridge between ancestral weaving methods and contemporary living, providing a sense of heritage and permanence to any interior.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires immense patience and precision. By tying each individual knot by hand, the weavers create a durable and dense structure that allows for the intricate, crisp floral details seen throughout the design.

The quality of this piece is further evidenced by its significant weight of 28.4 kg, which reflects the heavy investment of material and labour required during its creation. This density not only contributes to the rug's long-term durability but also ensures it lays flat and remains a sturdy foundation in your home.

The time and human effort involved in crafting a piece of this size are substantial, as every square centimetre is the result of focused, deliberate work. This dedication to craft ensures that the final product is not merely a floor covering, but a lasting example of traditional weaving expertise.
