NainHand KnottedRug

Beige / OrangeRunner71 x 391 cm

Nain rugs hail from the central region of the Middle East, a city that has become synonymous with some of the most refined and sought-after textile works in the world. Originally a centre for high-quality wool textiles, the city transitioned into rug weaving during the early 20th century, quickly establishing a reputation for unparalleled elegance and precision.

The quality of these rugs is often categorised by the fineness of the knotting, which dictates the level of detail achievable in the design. These pieces are known for their sophisticated use of colour, often favouring soft, neutral backgrounds that allow the intricate patterns to stand out with clarity and grace.

Signature design elements in these rugs typically include elaborate floral sprays, scrolling vine motifs, and central medallions that draw the eye. The borders are often complex, featuring repeating patterns that frame the field perfectly, a hallmark of the disciplined and artistic approach associated with this weaving tradition.

Collecting a rug from this tradition is an investment in cultural heritage. These pieces are valued for their enduring beauty and the immense skill required to produce them, making them prized possessions that add a sense of history and prestige to any interior they occupy.

This runner is meticulously hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that ensures every thread is secured with precision. By placing each knot by hand, the artisan achieves a level of detail and structural integrity that simply cannot be matched by modern machine-made alternatives.

The substantial weight of 11.1 kg across its 391 x 71 cm dimensions is a clear indicator of the high density and volume of material used in its construction. This generous use of Wool creates a resilient and long-lasting pile that maintains its plush texture even in high-traffic areas of your home.

Creating a piece of this size and complexity requires weeks of dedicated work from skilled weavers. This time-intensive approach ensures that the patterns are sharp, the edges are perfectly defined, and the final product possesses a lasting durability that makes it a worthwhile investment for any interior.
