Black / Dark red171 x 322 cm

Nahavand rugs originate from the historic town of Nahavand, located in the mountainous regions of the Middle East. This area has long been a hub for weaving traditions that blend nomadic influences with settled village aesthetics, resulting in a style that is celebrated for its rustic charm and bold, expressive character.

The construction of these rugs relies on time-honoured techniques that prioritise longevity. The use of high-quality Wool, often sourced from local mountain flocks, provides a dense and durable pile. This material choice is essential to the tradition, as it allows the rugs to withstand the rigours of daily use while maintaining their vibrant colour and structural form over decades.

Design-wise, Nahavand rugs are famous for their stylised floral motifs and geometric interpretations of natural elements. Unlike the highly formalised patterns seen in urban centres, these village rugs often feature a more spontaneous and creative use of space, with medallions and sprawling vines that create a sense of movement across the field.

Owning a piece from this tradition is a connection to a rich cultural heritage. Collectors and enthusiasts value these rugs not only for their beauty but for the authentic human story embedded in every knot. They are pieces that bridge the gap between historical craft and modern living, offering a sense of place and permanence to any home they occupy.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to its creation. By tying each individual knot by hand, the weavers achieve a level of precision and pattern clarity that is impossible to replicate through mechanical means, resulting in a product of superior structural integrity.

The craftsmanship is further evidenced by its significant weight of 27.5 kg, which directly reflects the density and abundance of the materials used in its construction. This weight is a hallmark of quality, indicating a tightly packed pile that offers a luxurious feel underfoot and ensures the rug remains flat and secure on your floor.

Every inch of this piece represents a commitment to traditional techniques passed down through generations. The deliberate pace of hand-knotting ensures that the Wool is secured firmly to the foundation, creating a durable and resilient floor covering that stands as a testament to the artisan's patience and expertise.
