By choosing this rug, you are welcoming a singular work of art into your home that serves as an anchor for your interior design, offering a depth of character that mass-produced items simply cannot match.

Woven from high-quality wool, this rug provides a soft, tactile experience underfoot that adds genuine warmth to any room. Its dense construction ensures a plush feel that naturally absorbs sound, creating a calmer and more inviting atmosphere in your living area.

The rug features a sophisticated design inspired by historical Middle Eastern artistry, characterised by complex geometric patterns and a balanced, harmonious layout. This intricate visual detail remains sharp and clear, reflecting the high standard of craftsmanship involved in its creation.

With its generous size, this piece is ideal for defining a seating area or adding a layer of luxury to a bedroom. Because it is a one-of-a-kind creation, owning this rug means you possess a piece of heritage that is as functional as it is beautiful, designed to last for many years to come.

Mamluk rugs take their name from the Mamluk Sultanate, which ruled Egypt and Syria between the 13th and 16th centuries. These rugs are renowned for their sophisticated geometric aesthetics, which were heavily influenced by the architecture and tile work of the period. Today, the tradition is kept alive by masterful weavers in Afghanistan who adapt these historic designs for the modern home.

The term Mamluk refers to a specific design language that emphasises large, central medallions surrounded by smaller, intricate geometric motifs. These rugs are highly regarded for their technical precision, often utilising a specific knotting style that results in a smooth, durable, and highly lustrous pile that ages beautifully over time.

Visually, these rugs are defined by their complex, jewel-toned colour palettes and an almost kaleidoscopic arrangement of repeating patterns. The signature look often includes a large, octagonal medallion as the focal point, framed by smaller secondary motifs that create a sense of balance and rhythmic harmony across the field.

Owning a Mamluk rug is an invitation to engage with a long-standing history of Middle Eastern textile artistry. They are collected not just for their aesthetic appeal, but for the skill and cultural heritage they represent. Each piece acts as a bridge between ancient craftsmanship and contemporary living, offering a sense of permanence and depth to any space.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who have dedicated months of focused effort to its completion. With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, the rug contains over 155,000 individual knots in total, a testament to the immense patience and technical precision required to execute such a complex design.

The substantial weight of 38.9 kg is a direct result of the high-quality materials and dense knotting process. This weight ensures the rug lies flat and remains durable under daily use, showcasing the strength and integrity of its construction.

Every knot is placed by hand, allowing for the precise rendering of the intricate patterns and borders that define this Mamluk style. This labour-intensive approach ensures that the pile is not only dense and luxurious but also incredibly resilient, justifying its status as a premium, long-lasting investment for your home.
