One-of-a-kind
LoribaftHand KnottedWool rug
Dark red / Brown188 x 262 cm

Loribaft - A Bold Statement of Artistic Heritage

Discover this striking one-of-a-kind rug, featuring a vibrant, hand-knotted design that brings warmth and character to any room. Its deep, rich tones and intentional artistry make it a truly unique centrepiece for your home.
This one-of-a-kind rug is a masterclass in colour and form, designed to anchor your space with its bold, artistic presence. The deep red field provides a dramatic backdrop for the golden-yellow medallion and intricate blue accents, creating a visual balance that is both energetic and grounding.
Crafted from 100% Wool, the pile offers a soft, tactile experience underfoot, providing natural warmth and sound-absorbing qualities to your living area. Its substantial construction makes it a comfortable addition to high-traffic spaces, where the natural resilience of the fibres ensures it remains a cosy part of your home for years to come.
Because each piece is individually hand-knotted, this rug possesses a unique character that cannot be replicated. By choosing this specific piece, you are acquiring a one-of-a-kind work of art, ensuring that your home holds a design element that exists nowhere else in the world.
The rich, saturated colours are achieved through traditional dyeing techniques that celebrate the vibrancy of natural materials. This rug is not merely a floor covering but a focal point that invites conversation and adds a layer of curated, thoughtful design to your interior.
Loribaft rugs originate from the nomadic traditions of the Middle East, specifically associated with the Luri and Qashqai tribes. These rugs are renowned for their artistic freedom and the use of bold, abstract designs that often depart from the rigid geometric patterns found in more formal city-made rugs.
The term 'Baft' refers to the weaving technique, while 'Lori' relates to the tribal origins of the style. These rugs are typically characterised by a thick, plush pile and a construction that prioritises comfort and durability, making them highly practical for the nomadic lifestyle from which they emerged.
Signature design elements in these pieces often include tribal motifs, stylised animals, or large central medallions that are interpreted with a modern, artistic sensibility. The use of vibrant, saturated colours is a hallmark of the tradition, often achieved through natural dyes that develop a beautiful character over time.
Collecting a Loribaft rug means embracing a tradition of individual expression and tribal heritage. These rugs are highly valued for their unique, non-repetitive designs, which reflect the mood and creativity of the weaver at the time of creation, ensuring that each piece is a genuine testament to historical craft.
This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires immense patience and precision. The labour-intensive nature of this craft is evident in every detail, as each individual knot is tied by hand to secure the wool pile to the foundation.
Given the substantial weight of 19.7 kg for its size, this rug demonstrates a high density of material that speaks to its durability and quality. The time-honoured technique of hand-knotting ensures that the finished product is not only beautiful but also capable of withstanding daily use while maintaining its structural integrity.
The creation of such a piece involves hundreds of hours of focused human effort. This dedication to craft ensures that every element of the pattern is rendered with care, resulting in a durable and substantial textile that represents a significant investment in traditional artistry.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
