Loribaft Fine - A Vibrant Tapestry of Colour

This one-of-a-kind Loribaft Fine rug brings warmth and artistic expression to your home. Hand-knotted with Wool, its rich, layered stripes and soft texture create a welcoming foundation for any room.
Experience the comfort of a rug designed for daily life, where the soft, dense Wool pile provides a tactile warmth that enhances the comfort of your living space. The natural material offers a gentle underfoot feel, making it an excellent choice for areas where you want to create a calm and inviting atmosphere.
This unique piece features a captivating arrangement of layered stripes that play with light and depth. Because this rug is one of a kind, you are acquiring a singular work of art that will never be replicated, ensuring your home remains as individual as your own sense of style.
Beyond its visual appeal, this rug serves as a functional anchor for your interior, offering excellent sound-dampening properties that help soften the acoustics of a room. Its substantial construction ensures that it remains a reliable and steady presence in your home for years to come.
Originating from the storied craft traditions of the Middle East, this rug carries with it a legacy of skilled artistry. Choosing this piece means bringing a touch of authentic, global design into your home that balances traditional technique with a modern, expressive aesthetic.
Loribaft rugs, and the closely related Kashkooli styles, represent a significant evolution in the weaving traditions of the Middle East. Originally rooted in the nomadic life of tribal groups, these rugs were designed for practical use, often serving as bedding or floor coverings within tents. Over time, these traditions have evolved into the sophisticated, highly sought-after pieces we see today.
The terminology surrounding these rugs often refers to the fineness of the weave and the quality of the Wool. 'Loribaft' specifically denotes a style that emphasises a softer, thicker pile and often features more open, artistic fields of colour compared to the more rigid geometric patterns found in other regional traditions. This focus on texture and depth makes them particularly prized for modern interiors.
Visually, these rugs are defined by their expressive use of colour and simplified, often abstract motifs. While traditional tribal rugs might focus on intricate, repeating medallions, the Loribaft style frequently celebrates the interplay of natural dyes, creating subtle variations in hue that give the surface a sense of movement and life.
Owning a Loribaft Fine rug is an invitation to connect with a long-standing tradition of craftsmanship that values the human touch above all else. These rugs are not merely decorative; they are artefacts of a culture that sees beauty in the everyday, preserving ancient skills in a format that remains relevant and beautiful for contemporary homes.
This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time and precision to every square metre of the piece. Each individual knot is tied by hand, a labour-intensive process that ensures the pile remains dense, durable, and capable of maintaining its structure and beauty through years of use.
With a weight of 4.1 kg, this rug demonstrates the generous amount of high-quality Wool used in its construction. This density is a direct result of the focused effort required to knot the piece, reflecting a level of craftsmanship that elevates it from a simple floor covering to a durable, heirloom-quality interior element.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
