Loribaft Fine - A Vibrant Tapestry for Your Home

This stunning, one-of-a-kind Loribaft rug brings a rich, artistic energy to your space. Hand-knotted with care, its colourful geometric field and bold checkerboard border create a truly unique focal point for any room.
This Loribaft Fine rug is a remarkable example of Middle Eastern artistry, offering a tactile and visual experience that transforms the atmosphere of a room. Its substantial pile provides a soft, cushioning feel underfoot while naturally dampening sound, making it an excellent choice for a quiet and cosy living area.
The rug is crafted from high-quality wool, which offers natural resilience and a gentle sheen that enhances the depth of its colours. The dense construction provides a durable surface capable of withstanding daily use, ensuring it maintains its comfort and appearance for many years to come.
As a one-of-a-kind piece, this rug is truly singular. The deliberate variation in its colourful, box-like motifs and the striking contrast of its border mean that no two rugs are ever identical. Owning this piece grants you a unique work of art that will never be replicated, bringing a sense of exclusivity to your home.
Originating from a rich tradition of Middle Eastern weaving, this rug carries a history of skill and dedication. It serves not just as a floor covering, but as a central element of decor that invites warmth and character into your living space, perfectly balancing traditional craft with a vibrant, modern aesthetic.
Loribaft rugs originate from the tribal weaving traditions of the Middle East, specifically associated with the nomadic groups of the Zagros Mountains. These rugs are celebrated for their thick, luxurious pile and their bold, often playful approach to traditional design, which distinguishes them from more formal, city-woven styles.
The term 'Loribaft' refers to a specific style of weaving that emphasizes a dense, soft pile, often achieved through the use of hand-spun wool. This construction method is vital for the rug's longevity, as the tightly packed knots create a structure that is both flexible and incredibly resistant to wear, allowing the rug to retain its vibrancy over decades of use.
Visually, these rugs are known for their expressive use of colour and geometric motifs. While they draw upon ancestral patterns, the weavers often incorporate modern or abstract interpretations of traditional symbols, resulting in a composition that feels both rooted in history and freshly creative. The presence of a checkerboard border is a signature of this tradition, framing the field with a sense of rhythm and balance.
Collecting a Loribaft rug is an investment in cultural heritage. Each piece represents the individual expression of the artisan, capturing a moment in time through the choice of dye and pattern. Because they are rooted in a nomadic lifestyle, these rugs possess a raw, authentic quality that brings a sense of grounded, human history into any contemporary home.
This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to its creation. The process involves securing each strand of wool individually to the foundation, a labour-intensive method that results in a highly durable and structurally sound piece.
With a weight of 17 kg, this rug demonstrates a significant investment of material and time, ensuring a dense and robust construction. The precision required to assemble such a complex, multi-coloured geometric design reflects the deep expertise of the weaver, whose steady hand ensures that every motif is clearly defined and long-lasting.
The dedication poured into this hand-knotted piece is evident in the weight and feel of the finished product. By choosing a rug created through this traditional technique, you are supporting a legacy of craft where human effort and attention to detail remain the primary tools for achieving superior quality.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
