The quality of the Wool construction provides excellent natural insulation and sound absorption, creating a quiet and cosy atmosphere. Whether placed in a busy hallway or a quiet reading nook, the natural resilience of the fibres ensures it maintains its beauty even with daily use.

With a density that feels substantial underfoot, this rug offers a high level of comfort that you will appreciate every day. Because it is a singular, handcrafted piece, it serves as a lasting anchor for your interior, providing a timeless look that is as functional as it is beautiful.

The Loribaft rug tradition originates from the nomadic tribes of the Zagros Mountains in the Middle East. These rugs are traditionally woven by the Luri and Qashqai peoples, whose weaving traditions have been passed down through generations. These communities are known for their deep connection to the land, which is reflected in the raw, natural beauty of their textiles.

The term 'Loribaft' refers to a specific style of weaving that emphasises a dense, plush pile and a more modern, simplified aesthetic compared to traditional tribal patterns. By using hand-spun Wool, the weavers achieve a depth of colour and a soft texture that sets these pieces apart, prioritising a luxurious feel that is both hearty and refined.

Visually, these rugs are defined by their open fields and minimalist approach, often focusing on the natural variations of the Wool and the warmth of the dye. While they may incorporate subtle, symbolic motifs, the primary focus remains on the interplay of colour and the organic texture of the material, making them incredibly versatile for various home settings.

Owning a Loribaft rug is an opportunity to connect with a storied tradition of nomadic craftsmanship. These pieces are highly valued by collectors not only for their durability but for the genuine human touch inherent in every knot. They represent a bridge between ancient heritage and modern living, offering a sense of history and warmth that mass-produced items simply cannot match.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months to its creation. The process begins with the careful preparation of high-quality Wool, which is then woven through a sturdy foundation to ensure longevity and structural integrity.

With a density of 160,000 knots per m², this rug features approximately 470,000 individual knots across its surface. This precise knot count allows for a dense, durable pile that is built to withstand years of use while maintaining its soft, plush feel underfoot.

The significant weight of 11.9 kg for a rug of this size is a direct result of the high-density construction and the premium Wool used. This substantial build is a testament to the effort and time invested by the weaver, resulting in a floor covering that is both exceptionally durable and rich in texture.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
