Loribaft Fine - A Warm Addition to Your Living Space

This one-of-a-kind rug brings a rich sense of calm to any room. Its deep, earthy tones and soft wool pile create a welcoming atmosphere that transforms your home into a truly comfortable sanctuary.
This Loribaft rug offers a tactile experience defined by its deep, plush wool pile, providing exceptional warmth and comfort underfoot. Its rich, saturated hues create a grounding presence, making it a perfect anchor for a living room or a quiet corner where you want to emphasise relaxation.
As a one-of-a-kind piece, this rug carries a unique character that cannot be replicated. Every time you walk across its surface, you are interacting with a singular work of art that was created to be lived with and enjoyed, ensuring that your home reflects a personal and thoughtful style.
The inherent qualities of the wool ensure that this piece not only feels soft but also provides excellent sound absorption, helping to create a quieter and more peaceful environment. Its natural resilience means it will continue to look beautiful and retain its inviting texture even with daily use.
Originating from the Middle Eastern tradition of hand-knotted rugs, this piece embodies a legacy of skill. Owning it means bringing a genuine piece of cultural history into your home, where it will serve as a lasting focal point that connects your space to a broader tradition of craft.
Loribaft rugs originate from the tribal regions of the Middle East, where they were traditionally crafted by nomadic weavers. These rugs are a more recent evolution of the classic tribal style, known for their thicker pile and more simplified, artistic designs compared to the highly intricate patterns of other regional carpets.
The term Loribaft refers to a specific style of weaving that emphasises a soft, heavy pile, often achieved through the use of hand-spun, high-quality wool. This construction is designed to be both comfortable and practical, offering a level of durability that stems from the tight, careful placement of each knot by the weaver.
Visually, these rugs are celebrated for their use of bold, saturated colours and large, open fields. While they often feature subtle, geometric motifs, the focus is frequently on the depth of the colour, which is achieved through traditional dyeing techniques. This rug's deep, rich tone is a hallmark of the style, designed to create a sense of warmth in any interior.
Today, these rugs are highly sought after by collectors who value the blend of tribal authenticity and modern, minimalist aesthetics. Owning a Loribaft piece is a commitment to preserving a living tradition of craftsmanship, where the personality of the weaver is subtly woven into the very fabric of the home.
This rug is entirely hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to each piece. This labour-intensive process ensures a level of precision and durability that is simply not possible with machine-made alternatives, resulting in a pile that is exceptionally dense and robust.
The construction of this rug relies on a high standard of craftsmanship, using 160,000 knots per m2 to build its structure. With a total area of approximately 2.24 m2, this equates to roughly 358,000 individual knots tied by hand. This incredible density is what gives the rug its substantial weight of 9 kg and ensures that the pattern and pile remain sharp and resilient over many years.
The time and human effort invested in this rug are evident in its tight, uniform knotting and the stability of its foundation. By choosing this piece, you are supporting a tradition of craft where every knot is a testament to the artisan's patience and expertise, creating a floor covering that is built to endure.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
