Lillian rugs originate from a specific region in the Middle East, where weaving has long been a central pillar of cultural expression. Historically, these pieces were crafted by nomadic and village communities, serving as both essential household items and as canvases for storytelling through traditional motifs.

The term Lillian refers to a distinct style known for its sturdy construction and bold, often large-scale floral and geometric patterns. These rugs are celebrated for their resilience, as they were traditionally made to withstand the rigors of daily life while maintaining their aesthetic appeal through generations.

Visually, these rugs are often defined by their striking use of colour and formal, stylized floral arrangements. The patterns typically feature a central medallion or repeat motifs that draw the eye, enclosed by decorative borders that frame the composition with precision and balance.

Collecting a rug from this tradition is an investment in heritage and skill. Because each piece is handmade, it captures the weaver's personal interpretation of historical designs, making it a valuable acquisition for those who appreciate the intersection of cultural history and enduring quality.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time to ensure every detail is perfectly placed. With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, the creation of this piece is a labour-intensive process that requires immense focus and precision.

The 4 kg weight of this 134 x 75 cm rug is a testament to the high volume of premium wool used in its construction. This density not only gives the rug its substantial, luxurious feel but also ensures that the intricate patterns remain sharp and the structure remains robust for years to come.

The time and human effort invested in this hand-knotted piece are evident in the quality of the finish. By choosing a rug crafted in this manner, you are supporting a legacy of traditional craftsmanship where the expertise of the weaver is woven directly into the foundation of the item.
