Lillian rugs originate from the Arak region in the Middle East, a historic area renowned for its deep-rooted weaving traditions. These rugs are highly regarded for their robust construction and distinctive design language, which often blends village-style charm with more formal, sophisticated artistic influences.

The term Lillian refers to a specific style of weaving that emphasises durability and structural strength. By utilising a dense, hand-knotted pile, these rugs are built to handle the demands of active households, maintaining their vibrant colours and intricate patterns through generations of use.

Visually, Lillian rugs are best known for their bold, often geometric interpretations of floral motifs. The central medallion is a signature element, frequently framed by stylised flower heads and vines that reflect the natural beauty of the region's landscape. The use of rich, earthy tones paired with contrasting fields is a hallmark of this tradition, creating a balanced and harmonious look.

Collectors value Lillian rugs for their unique combination of resilience and artistic expression. Owning such a rug is not merely about floor decoration, but about preserving a piece of cultural heritage that showcases the dedication and skill of generations of artisans.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires patience and a high degree of technical expertise. Every single knot is placed by hand, creating a robust and dense pile that ensures the rug retains its structural integrity and beauty over decades of use.

With a construction density of 160,000 knots per m2, this piece represents a significant investment of human effort and time. This precise knot density allows for the intricate floral details seen in the design to remain sharp and clear, providing a superior level of pile density that is both luxurious to the touch and highly durable.

The craftsmanship is further evidenced by the weight of 4.3 kg, which reflects the heavy, high-quality material used in its creation. This substantial construction is a hallmark of traditional hand-knotted rugs, ensuring that the finished piece lays flat, maintains its shape, and provides a long-lasting foundation for your home.
