Lillian rugs originate from the Arak region of the Middle East, a historic hub for weaving that has been celebrated for centuries. These rugs are highly regarded for their robust construction and their ability to blend traditional village aesthetics with the more refined, sophisticated designs found in urban workshops.

The term Lillian refers to a specific design tradition that often features bold, stylized floral motifs and medallions. The construction typically involves a sturdy foundation that allows for a dense, durable pile. This technical approach ensures that the rugs are not only beautiful but also capable of lasting for generations with proper care.

Visually, these rugs are often defined by their deep red fields, which serve as a striking backdrop for the intricate, often geometric or floral patterns. The borders are typically well-defined, providing a formal frame that contains the energy of the central design. This specific piece displays these classic elements with a vibrant clarity that highlights the weaver's mastery of the traditional style.

Owning a Lillian rug is an investment in a rich cultural legacy. These pieces are sought after by collectors and homeowners alike because they represent a marriage of artistic expression and practical utility. By choosing this rug, you are preserving a piece of craft history and adding a unique, storied element to your own living space.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and skill. By tying each individual knot by hand, the artisan ensures a level of structural integrity and pattern precision that simply cannot be achieved by machines.

Given the substantial size of this piece and the density of the hand-knotted construction, the creation of this rug represents hundreds of hours of focused human effort. This dedication to the craft results in a durable foundation that holds the intricate floral design with sharpness and clarity.

The weight of 15.3 kg is a testament to the quality and quantity of the materials used in its construction. This significant weight indicates a dense, high-quality weave that provides both longevity and a luxurious, substantial feel, ensuring the rug lies flat and withstands the demands of daily life.
