One-of-a-kind
Kilim PatchworkHand WovenWool rug
Brown / Dark red140 x 200 cm

Kelim Patchwork - A Tapestry of Woven Stories for Your Home

Discover the vibrant charm of this handmade Kelim patchwork rug. A truly one-of-a-kind piece bringing warmth and rich character to your living space.
Bring a sense of lived-in history and artistic warmth to your home with this distinctive Kelim patchwork rug. Measuring 200 x 140 cm, it features a comfortable 8 mm pile that provides a welcoming surface underfoot while remaining practical for everyday living.
Composed entirely of 100% wool, this rug delivers exceptional natural warmth and a pleasing tactile quality. Wool fibers naturally resist everyday wear while offering reliable sound absorption to make your rooms feel quieter and more grounded.
Because it is a genuine one-of-a-kind creation, no two rugs share this exact composition of fragments. Each section has been thoughtfully selected and pieced together to form a cohesive, multicoloured statement piece that exists nowhere else in the world.
Rooted in the rich craft traditions of the Middle East, this rug bridges past and present. It offers a wonderful way to introduce authentic artisan heritage into modern and eclectic interiors alike.
Patchwork rugs draw on a long history of resourcefulness and textile preservation in Middle Eastern weaving traditions. Rather than letting older, damaged flatwoven rugs go to waste, skilled artisans began salvaging the best-preserved sections to give them new life.
The technique relies on flatwoven Kelim construction, where no pile is knotted into the warp. Instead, the coloured weft threads are tightly interlaced by hand to create crisp geometric motifs and flat, durable surfaces.
This particular piece features an array of traditional motifs, including Anatolian and tribal patterns, stripes, and medallions. Each individual patch carries its own regional design language, showcasing different dye traditions and weaving styles.
Owning a patchwork Kelim means preserving a piece of textile history. It celebrates the skill of generations of weavers who mastered the art of natural dyeing and flatweaving long before modern manufacturing existed.
This rug is entirely handmade through traditional hand-weaving techniques, bringing together numerous fragments of vintage flatwoven textiles. Artisans carefully stitch these diverse pieces together, balancing colours and patterns to form a unified composition.
Weighing 5.6 kg, the substantial construction reflects the heavy investment of human labour and durable materials required to assemble and reinforce each individual panel. This careful assembly ensures the rug lies flat and maintains its structural integrity over years of use.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
