Kelim Ariana Trend - A Warm Path for Your Home

Bring home this one-of-a-kind Afghan Kelim Ariana runner, featuring flatwoven wool and vibrant geometric bands that add immediate warmth and character to your hallway.

This Kelim Ariana runner brings a wonderful sense of warmth and grounded comfort to your hallway or narrow living space. With a low 5 mm profile, it rests easily beneath doors while offering a pleasant, flatwoven surface beneath your feet.

Woven using 100% wool, this piece provides natural resilience and softness underfoot. The wool fibres also help absorb sound and maintain a cosy indoor climate, making your floors feel much more welcoming.

Because this is a genuinely one-of-a-kind creation from Afghanistan, no other home will have this exact combination of rich tones and geometric patterning. Once this specific piece finds a home, it can never be replicated.

Originating from Afghanistan, this runner carries on a proud tradition of skilled hand craftsmanship. The careful construction ensures a durable floor covering that will gracefully accompany your daily routines for years to come.

Kilim rug weaving has a long and storied history rooted in the nomadic and village traditions of the Middle East and Central Asia. Originally created by tribal weavers for practical household use such as bedding, storage bags, and floor coverings, these flatwoven textiles have evolved into cherished decorative art forms.

The Kelim Ariana style specifically highlights this heritage by combining ancient flatweaving methods with contemporary design sensibilities. Unlike pile rugs, kelims are woven by tightly interlock-weaving warp and weft threads together, resulting in a lightweight yet sturdy fabric that lies completely flat on the floor.

The visual language of this rug features repeating geometric bands and sharp horizontal motifs. These stylised patterns draw from ancient tribal symbols, arranged to create a rhythmic flow of colour that guides the eye naturally along the length of the runner.

Collecting a handmade Afghan kelim means preserving ancient craft traditions that have been passed down through generations. Owning such a piece connects your modern living space to a rich cultural heritage of skilled artisans who pour their knowledge and patience into every single thread.

This runner is entirely handmade through traditional hand-weaving techniques, requiring weeks of dedicated human effort and considerable skill. Artisans carefully pass coloured threads back and forth by hand to create the flatwoven structure without a raised pile.

Weighing 2.6 kg across its 293 x 88 cm dimensions, this rug demonstrates a dense and sturdy construction. The tight weave reflects the time and physical labour invested by the weaver, resulting in a reliable floor covering designed for everyday use.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
