This one-of-a-kind runner brings warmth and character to any space with its rich, geometric design and hand-woven Wool construction.

This beautiful runner offers a tactile, grounded experience, bringing a sense of warmth and history to your home. Crafted from natural Wool, it provides a soft yet durable surface that adds comfort to high-traffic areas like hallways or entryways.

The rug is a truly one-of-a-kind piece, meaning no two examples are identical. By choosing this runner, you are acquiring a unique work of art that will never be replicated, ensuring your decor remains as individual as your personal style.

Featuring a striking geometric pattern, this piece is an excellent choice for those who appreciate the rustic charm of traditional Middle Eastern craft. Its low 5 mm profile makes it a versatile addition to any room, easily fitting under doors while maintaining a substantial presence.

Originating from the skilled weaving traditions of the Middle East, this runner showcases a masterful use of colour and structure. The Wool construction ensures that the rug remains a long-lasting staple in your home, aging gracefully with time and daily use.

The history of the Kelim Afghan Old Style is deeply rooted in the nomadic traditions of the Middle East. These rugs have long been essential to the lifestyle of migratory groups, serving as versatile floor coverings, wall hangings, and storage bags that could be easily transported across the rugged landscapes of the region.

Technically, a kelim is a flat-weave rug, meaning it is constructed without a pile. This specific weaving style is achieved by tightly interlacing the warp and weft threads, creating a lightweight yet incredibly sturdy fabric. Because they lack the knots found in traditional pile rugs, they possess a clean, graphic quality that emphasises the clarity of their intricate patterns.

The visual language of these rugs is defined by bold geometric motifs. You will often find diamonds, triangles, and stepped polygons arranged in rhythmic, symmetrical sequences. These designs are not merely decorative but often carry cultural symbols and stories from the weaver's community, passed down through the generations as a living visual archive.

Collectors value these pieces for their authenticity and the sheer skill required to maintain uniform tension without the support of a pile. Owning a Middle Eastern kelim is an opportunity to connect with a centuries-old craft tradition, bringing a piece of cultural heritage into a modern home environment.

This runner is entirely hand-woven, a labour-intensive process that relies on the skill and steady hands of experienced artisans. Each thread is carefully positioned to create the precise geometric layout, a technique that requires immense focus and dedication to achieve such consistent tension and detail.

Given its dimensions of 245 x 81 cm and a total weight of 2 kg, the density of this piece is a testament to the quality of the materials and the effort invested in its creation. Every inch of this runner reflects the time-honoured practices passed down through generations of weavers, resulting in a durable and well-constructed floor covering.

The commitment to traditional hand-weaving ensures that the finished rug possesses a character and structural integrity that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match. This investment in human skill is what gives the rug its lasting quality and ensures it remains a cherished part of your home for many years.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
