Keshan rugs originate from the historic city of Kashan in the Middle East, a region with a storied past as a centre of textile production. For centuries, this area has been celebrated for its ability to blend artistic vision with technical precision, creating rugs that are as durable as they are beautiful.

The term Keshan refers to both the geographic origin and a specific style of weaving that emphasises dense, high-quality construction. These rugs are known for their resilience and ability to age gracefully, reflecting a tradition where the quality of the materials and the skill of the weaver are paramount.

Signature design elements of this tradition often include a central medallion surrounded by lush, flowing floral motifs and intricate arabesques. The borders are typically ornate, serving as a frame that enhances the complexity of the main field. This particular piece showcases these classic elements in a way that respects historical patterns while maintaining a distinct, individual spirit.

Collectors value these rugs for their cultural significance and the skill they represent. Owning a piece from this tradition is an investment in a craft that has been passed down through generations, offering a tangible connection to a rich history of artistry and design that continues to influence modern interiors.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to its creation. Each individual knot is placed by hand, a labour-intensive process that results in the remarkable durability and fine pattern detail that defines this premium piece.

With a weight of 43.1 kg, this rug demonstrates a high density of material, signifying the depth of labour and quality of construction invested in its making. This substantial weight is a hallmark of a well-crafted, robust rug that is designed to withstand the rigours of daily use while maintaining its shape and beauty.

The precision of the hand-knotting process ensures that the intricate floral motifs remain sharp and clear across the entire surface. This level of craftsmanship is not just about visual appeal; it is a testament to the time and human dedication required to produce a piece of such enduring quality.
