Brown / Orange137 x 260 cm

Keshan rugs originate from a historic city in the Middle East, a place famed for its long-standing status as a hub of artistic and cultural exchange along ancient trade routes. The tradition of weaving in this region has evolved over centuries, blending local artistic sensibilities with influences from across the continent to create a style that is globally recognised for its refinement.

The term Keshan refers to both the geographical origin and the specific design language that characterises these pieces. These rugs are known for their high-quality construction, often utilising soft, lustrous wool that is expertly cleaned and spun to produce a pile that feels luxurious to the touch while remaining incredibly durable.

The signature design of a Keshan typically features a central medallion surrounded by a symmetrical field of intricate floral sprays, vines, and palmettes. This classic layout is often framed by a wide, detailed border that balances the complexity of the central field. Such motifs are deeply rooted in the artistic traditions of the region, often echoing the patterns found in historic garden designs.

Owning a Keshan is an investment in a storied craft tradition. These rugs are highly valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their combination of artistic beauty and functional longevity. When you bring a piece like this into your home, you are continuing a legacy of craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations of skilled weavers.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to bring every detail of the design to life. The process involves tying thousands of individual knots to create a dense, high-quality pile that ensures both pattern clarity and exceptional longevity.

With a density of 160,000 knots per m2, the construction is remarkably precise. This high knot count allows for the fluid, intricate floral lines seen across the field, providing a structural integrity that supports the rug's weight and ensures it lays beautifully on your floor.

Beyond the knotting process, the use of a sturdy foundation provides the necessary support for the wool pile. This combination of traditional techniques and high-quality materials results in a heavy, substantial rug that reflects the time and human skill invested in its creation.
