Kerman rugs originate from the desert city of Kerman in the Middle East, a region with a centuries-old reputation for producing some of the most refined floor coverings in the world. Historically, these rugs were sought after for their elaborate floral designs and the incredible skill of the local weavers who drew inspiration from the lush gardens of the region.

The tradition is defined by a commitment to complexity and grace. A signature element of Kerman rugs is the use of a wide range of colours and intricate, flowing floral patterns that often cover the entire field or centre around a beautifully detailed medallion. This focus on detail requires a high level of expertise, as the weavers must maintain perfect consistency across a large surface.

Technical excellence is at the heart of the Kerman style. The use of a fine foundation allows for high knot density, which is essential for capturing the fluidity of the floral motifs. This density not only enhances the visual detail but also contributes to the rug's longevity, making it a reliable and durable choice for homes that value both form and function.

Collecting a Kerman rug is a way of participating in a deep-rooted cultural heritage. These pieces are valued for their artistic vision and the patience required to bring such complex designs to life. Owning one is a testament to an appreciation for skilled craftsmanship and the enduring appeal of traditional design.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of work to each piece. The density of the knots, at 360,000 per m2, is a testament to the immense human effort and technical skill required to achieve such sharp, complex pattern definition.

With a total weight of 83.1 kg, this rug features a substantial and durable construction that reflects the high quality of the materials used. The significant weight is a direct result of the dense knotting and generous use of high-quality wool, ensuring that the rug stays firmly in place and maintains its structural integrity over time.

The time and precision invested in this creation ensure a level of durability that mass-produced alternatives cannot match. Every individual knot is placed by hand, resulting in a finish that is both consistent and remarkably resilient for long-term enjoyment.

The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
