Beige / Orange63 x 93 cm

Kazak rugs originate from the Caucasus region, where they were traditionally woven by nomadic tribes. While the name is historical, modern examples like this one are expertly crafted in Afghanistan, where weavers have mastered these traditional techniques to continue a legacy of bold, expressive design.

The term Kazak refers to a specific style of rug known for its bold geometric patterns and vibrant use of colour. These rugs are typically woven with a sturdy construction, using high-quality wool that is known for its resilience and ability to retain its natural lustre over many years of use.

Visually, these rugs are characterised by their striking medallion designs and decorative borders. This particular piece features intricate geometric shapes that draw the eye, framed by a border filled with traditional motifs that provide a balanced and structured look to the overall composition.

Collecting a Kazak rug is an invitation to own a piece of cultural heritage. Because they are rooted in centuries of weaving tradition, they are highly valued for their authenticity and the human skill required to bring each design to life, making them a significant addition to any home.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and patience. By tying each individual knot by hand, the artisan ensures a level of structural integrity and pattern precision that simply cannot be achieved by modern machinery.

The construction of this piece is evidenced by its weight of 1.8 kg for its compact size, which signals a dense, high-quality build. This concentration of material ensures the rug remains flat and stable on your floor, reflecting the significant time and effort invested by the weaver in creating such a sturdy, long-lasting item.
