Brown / Orange62 x 98 cm

Kazak rugs are celebrated for their bold, geometric style, originating from the Caucasus region. Over time, the tradition of weaving these rugs migrated, and today, some of the most vibrant and authentic examples are created by master weavers in Afghanistan who have kept these ancestral techniques alive for generations.

The term 'Kazak' refers to a specific style of tribal rug known for its large-scale geometric patterns and saturated colours. These rugs are typically characterised by a sturdy, heavy pile that has made them favourites for centuries among those who value both aesthetic impact and long-lasting durability.

Signature design elements often include stylised medallions, latch-hook motifs, and bold, serrated borders. The use of repeating geometric shapes in the field is a hallmark of this tradition, creating a balanced yet energetic composition that feels both structured and organic, reflecting the natural landscapes from which these designs were born.

Owning a hand-knotted Kazak rug is about more than just decor; it is about acquiring a piece of cultural history. These rugs are valued by collectors for their individuality and the immense skill required to produce them, ensuring that each rug serves as a testament to a craft tradition that prioritises quality and artistic expression.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time to ensure each detail is precise. The process involves individual strands of wool being tied by hand onto a cotton foundation, a demanding technique that requires patience and a high level of expertise.

With a weight of 1.8 kg for its size, this rug demonstrates a robust and dense construction. This concentration of materials is a direct result of the intensive labour involved, ensuring that the final product is not only visually striking but also built to withstand the test of time.
