Kazak FineHand KnottedRug

Dark blue / Brown153 x 197 cm

Kazak rugs originate from the Caucasus region, historically serving as a bridge between nomadic traditions and settled craft. While the style has evolved over centuries, the name has become synonymous with bold, large-scale geometric patterns and a vibrant colour palette that reflects the spirited culture of the weavers who created them.

Today, the finest examples of these rugs are produced in Afghanistan, where weavers have mastered the art of combining traditional motifs with high-quality, durable Wool. This migration of craft has allowed the Kazak style to flourish in a new landscape, maintaining its historical integrity while adapting to modern interior needs.

The signature design elements of a Kazak rug include stylized medallions, latch-hook motifs, and geometric animals or floral shapes, all set against a rich, often blue or red, field. These patterns are not just decorative; they are a visual language that has been passed down through generations, with each border and medallion telling a story of the region's diverse artistic heritage.

Collecting a Kazak rug is an opportunity to own a piece of living history. These rugs are valued not only for their aesthetic power but for the skill and patience required to create them, representing a cultural legacy that prioritises long-lasting quality over fleeting trends.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate significant time and effort to each piece. With a density of 90,000 knots per m2, the construction is exceptionally solid, ensuring that the pile remains dense and the patterns stay sharp over time. This level of precision requires months of focused, manual labour, reflecting a commitment to quality that mass-produced items cannot match.

The craftsmanship is further evidenced by the weight of 9 kg, which signals the generous amount of high-quality Wool used in its creation. This density provides a substantial, high-quality foundation that prevents the rug from shifting on your floor and enhances its overall durability, justifying the time and care invested by the weavers in every single row of knots.
