Kazak FineHand KnottedRug

Black / Dark blue122 x 173 cm

Kazak rugs have a long history rooted in the Caucasus region, though today many of the finest examples are woven by skilled artisans in Afghanistan. This migration of the style has preserved the bold, geometric aesthetic while incorporating the exceptional weaving traditions of Afghan craftspeople.

The term Fine in this category indicates a higher level of detail and precision in the weaving process. This allows the weavers to create sharper geometric lines and more intricate border patterns, resulting in a clearer, more defined visual layout.

Traditionally, Kazak designs are characterised by their striking geometric medallions, stylized floral motifs, and strong contrasting colours. While red is often the dominant colour in historical pieces, this contemporary example uses a rich blue field to create a fresh yet authentic interpretation of the style.

Owning an Afghan-woven Kazak rug means bringing a piece of living history into your home. These rugs are highly valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their robust construction, expressive designs, and the cultural heritage woven into every thread.

This rug was entirely handmade using traditional hand-knotting techniques in Afghanistan, a process requiring immense patience and skill. Every single knot was tied individually by a skilled artisan, ensuring a tight, durable structure that machine-made rugs cannot replicate.

Weighing 6.3 kg for its 173 x 122 cm size, the substantial weight of this piece is a direct reflection of its dense construction and the generous amount of wool used. This density ensures the rug lies flat on your floor and maintains its shape and beauty over years of use.

The creation of a hand-knotted rug of this scale represents weeks of focused manual labour. This human investment is what gives the rug its unique character and ensures it remains a durable, high-quality piece for your home.
