Kazak rugs originate from the Caucasus region, a mountainous area known for its deep-rooted weaving history. Today, the tradition is carried forward in Afghanistan, where weavers maintain these classic techniques while infusing them with a modern aesthetic that remains respectful of the original styles.

The term Kazak refers to a specific, bold design language characterised by geometric motifs and saturated colours. These rugs are highly regarded for their sturdy construction and the way they blend traditional craftsmanship with a timeless, rustic look that fits beautifully in a variety of interior settings.

Signature design elements often include large, stylised medallions and geometric tribal motifs, all framed by intricate, repeating borders. The patterns are not merely decorative but often tell stories or carry cultural significance, with each rug reflecting the unique perspective and skill of the artisan who created it.

Owning a hand-knotted Kazak is an opportunity to connect with a long-standing heritage of textile art. Collectors value these rugs for their authenticity, the depth of their design, and the fact that they are crafted to last for generations, becoming more beautiful and storied with every passing year.

This runner is carefully hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to every single piece. The process begins with the careful selection of high-quality wool, which is then knotted by hand onto a cotton foundation, ensuring a level of precision and durability that simply cannot be achieved by machines.

With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, the rug reflects a significant investment of time and human skill. This high knot density is what gives the pattern its sharp, clear definition and creates a pile that is both dense and resilient, allowing the rug to stand up to the rigors of everyday life while retaining its intricate detail.
